Sissi – the empress’ new furniture
Sissi – an occasional table folded from a foldable light construction material developed in our studio, and refined with exquisite textile surfaces.
The legs are bound in a curve-enhancing baroque form with a corsage-like lacing of the 2mm-thick material, allowing the observer to glimpse the construction. Innovative materials and efficient CNC production, combined with historic craft techniques, create a space for exciting, sustainable new designs, produced in small batches.
Multi-plug connectors, torches and crates are products born out of their function: they fulfil their purpose and are appreciated as such, while staying otherwise in the background. We allow them to escape their obscurity, their new interpretations bringing them into the home environment and enriching it with both their aesthetic and their functionality.
I am furniture
The freedom of a product.
As it never was intended to be.
I am furniture is our new series of Industrially sculptured objects, heated up electrically.
Objects that tend to be something that they are not, don't we all?

Groaning, moaning, sighing, squeaking.
Do you believe that your fridge has a soul? Or at least its own character?
Are the sounds of every model in a range the same, or does each product develop a life of its own over time?
Sounds, images and scents generate a feeling of familiarity.
The hum of the fridge adds to the sense of security of your home. Why else would we tolerate a constant noise of over 40 decibels in our homes on a daily basis, while still feeling comfortable?

Crawling beautifully
Teddy-bear ears and squirrels tails with rustling inlays: these crawling mats, designed by Berlin artist Lara Brekenfeld and Hamburg-based journalist Bettina Buschow have it in them! The mats not only gladden the hearts and hands of the youngest members of the family, but the eyes of their parents too. Lovingly hand-crafted from the finest materials, every piece is unique. Children already flown the nest? The mats also make beautiful wall-hangings or quilts.

The idea for Itt was formed in the workshop of Borrmann Ateliers. A year ago, two photographers and two interior designers made a home for themselves in an old factory in which Franz Schubert, the owner of Borrmann Posamente, has been engaged in the production of tassels, ropes and trims for over 58 years. The concept for Itt developed in this interplay of old craft traditions and new ideas. The site offers a creative production line of a completely new kind, in the interdisciplinary combination of designers behind the name Borrmann Ateliers.

With her ceramic vessels, Christine Ruff dispenses with all adornment. A hallmark of Ruff’s work is the matt surface of the ceramics, highlighting their reduction to pure form.
The ceramics, produced in fine stoneware and fired at 1200°C, are entirely hand-crafted by Ruff in her Wuppertal studio – from modelling the form to casting, glazing and firing.
christine ruff ceramic stands for lightness of touch, elegance and exclusivity. Her vases and bowls are persuasive in their aesthetic and sculptural character.
Together with Atelier Schneeweiss, Glas Trösch and A.S.Création, confused-direction presents the furniture of Lars Contzen, alongside designs by their in-house team.
The space was designed using colour groups from colourcourage®.
colourcourage® is a colour system put together by designer Lars Contzen. It consists of patented colour groups, combined in harmonious tones. The range is put together to reflect the laws of colour psychology, combined with current cultural understanding of colour, and is intended for use in architecture and interior architecture.
A network of colourcourage® partners, consisting of several well-known industrial companies, offers complementary products and materials, guaranteeing a balanced, harmonious fusion of colour. The idea is to accent architecture and interior architecture with strong yet stylish hues, so that the appearance of a room or a building calls to mind an oversized graphic pattern or a constructivist painting.
confused-direction gives form to this idea in a concept presentation at “designersfair” 2010 in Cologne.
The members of the colourcourage® partnership network are: A.S. Creation Tapeten AG, Rescopal GmbH, Glas Trösch GmbH, Atelier Schneeweiss.
Nitelab is the name of a bed and bedside table built in the Hintze workshop in Cologne.
The style of the Nitelab is familiar to many, as the forms and colours borrow from those of the early 70’s. The design is defined by the space-age-inspired bedframe in particular. This encloses the carcases, into which 4 spacious drawers are integrated. The drawers open at the lightest touch, and can be pulled out fully, thanks to slides along their length. The sides of the bed, the head and footboards, and the sides of the bedside table are identical in colour, and are available in orange, green, yellow and brown.

Drunter und Drüber – Hats, bags, scarves, t-shirts, shelf units; things that are so ordinary they’re almost boring suddenly become surprising in the hands of Trier-based four-piece Drunter und Drüber. The ingredients of their creations are unusual materials, numerous variations and refreshing design - an exciting interplay emerges through the multilayered combination of craft, product design, interior design and architecture.
This young furniture label is showing its collection for the first time. The multi-media exhibition puts the products in the spotlight, giving insights into everything from the origins of the ideas right up to interaction with the objects themselves.
In one collection, dua unites individual designs from a number of different designers. Each idea emerges from research conducted by the individual designer. The designs are produced in Germany, with an emphasis on efficiency and direct personal contact. Modern computer-aided processes are paired with expert craftsmanship. dua also offers an interior design service. We plan and execute – together with our partners in the arts and in industry – living and work spaces, exhibitions, bars and theatre sets.

NIDO Stool and table range in GRP
As fragile as the “Nido” stool appears from afar, when sat on it proves to be extremely stable, while still being almost light as a feather.
The stool has its construction of resin-soaked glass fibres to thank for the successful marriage of form and function. The designer Eva Marguerre has developed a manufacturing process in which the fibres can be joined and wound in a variety of ways, meaning that the basic model can produce individual stools with varying patterns and structures.
The resin makes the stools weather and light-proof – they are also suitable for balconies or terraces.
The furniture label FED was started in 2003 by Felix Ersig.
After studying at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, the emphasis of his work shifted to furniture design. In 2003, the label FED & DIE WERTANLAGE was formed in Düsseldorf. In order to get the most from the carefully selected materials used, the forms of FED furniture are kept very simple. During development, materials are the primary consideration: often, substances are used that are not intended for furniture construction - that have to be created or found. This includes components such as concrete, rubber, and moulded trimmings. The materials are brought into a new context, finding new ways to bring out their essence. From this focus on the quality of a material, a new FED piece is developed.
Felix Stark will soon be exhibiting a whole series of new designs: the spectrum ranges from the bed “Plane”, via the sofa “S3” and the standard lamp “Grow” to the bathroom accessories “ARK”.
The designer’s formal language runs through all the products on display, bringing the various materials and concepts together to form a coherent range. Concentrated design, in its purest form.
“Bonkr“
Placed opposite one another, two high-backed sofas form a calm, protective space in the chaos of day-to-day life. From the outside, coarse, compact, closed – on the inside colourful, cosy; materials: foam monobloc with highly elastic, waterproof coating.
The Fremdform studio, freshly formed by independent designers Katrin Füser and Pierre Kracht, develops visions and concepts for interior spaces.
With their process-oriented working methods, they combine design, installation, scenography and art. We are constantly on the search for new ideas, combining different design disciples in the process. The result is concepts, products, installations and scenography with emotional content.

Unique visual language and the fusion of form, function and flexibility come to the fore in the work of Gilges Gestaltung.
The sustainable furniture system moduleros will adapt effortlessly to changing circumstances, both in your life and in your living space. From four different modules, bold combinations can be formed, resulting in different heights and widths. A “flexible, three-dimensional living space form” emerges. The wall-mounted shelf unit modulezzi has a graphic character all of its own. It adjusts laterally to fit a variety of wall spaces. In the corridor, it makes a convenient storage space; in the living room, it becomes a shelf for books or stationery; in the kitchen, it’s a spice rack, and in the bedroom a bed-side shelf: modulezzi always fits.
grassland captures the imagination with real grass, but not as we know it. The objects and 3D installations, created from dried grass, generate a special impact at events and trade fairs, in office spaces and in the home.
With his project LICHTung, Gregor Olbertz offers an exciting alternative to the conventional array of lights.
Objects that lead a rather sorry day-to-day existence, buried in the earth, discarded as rubbish, used for digging, raking, cleaning... manage to escape their Cinderella existences through the interplay of light.
They re-emerge as unusual light forms, and the banal everyday object becomes a shining star.
handwert creates furniture: young, bold, cool; unique or part of a series; sometimes individual, sometimes anonymous; sometimes minimalist, abstract or modern, sometimes classic or timeless. We make furniture that’s technically correct, but not too conventional, and that’s bold enough for new, unusual solutions. Our furniture might caress, disturb, invite, excite, surprise, aesthetically, valuably or quite simply be! Craft meets design!
Each to their own! In a small workshop in the south of Germany, we create all kinds of unique pieces – pieces that quickly become favourites. Each of our four models comes in 5 formats, worked in only the finest waterproof leathers... we’re also happy to tailor to individual requests. Our much-loved range features two-tone stripes, creating strong contrasts with a rich range of combination options... and it particularly appeals to people with assymetric fringes.
ENDLICH KAUFEN! Neben vielen Produkten der ausstellenden Designer gibt es hier eine Auswahl von jungen Artikeln: Von Mode über Magazine, Fotografien und Illustrationen bis hin zu Möbel und Accessoires.
helena lebá. softes
Designer Helena Lebá takes ordinary objects, forms and materials out of their original contexts with her designs, interpreting the everyday realm in a new, humorous light.
What fascinates the designer is changeability. Whether the object is a purely decorative or a useful item – the pieces are created to surprise, to encourage play and to invite you to touch them – in short: they’re made for fun.
Innovative, futuristic, timeless.
Our pieces will win you over with their complex, harmonic interplay of form and function. We favour creative, extravagant forms and technical, constructive solutions that combine the newest CNC technology with the best craftsmanship. Each finished piece is unique, and can be individually created in a range of colours and materials. We also offer to transform your living space with our client-oriented space concepts. We want to bring you quality of life through design.
The Belgian designer Tim Baute’s approach to his work focuses on concept and form, and encompasses respect for material, environment and function. Simplicity is key. With ‘SevenUp’, he decided to rethink the chandelier. Chandeliers have always been associated with romance... but they’ve also been rather imposing. With this in mind, he designed a chandelier that would retain the nostalgia, but give it a lighter touch. In order to escape the bulkiness and grandeur of the object, he chose to deconstruct it, while staying true to the essence of the chandelier.
With her current rug collection “concrete”, the designer Iris Maschek hones new modes of expression in contemporary carpet design. The rugs stand out for their unique visual signature, and are characterised by their aesthetic complexity and poetry; modern ornamentation; clarity and graphically reduced textures.

‘WOD’ seating, and the follow-up products, the ‘ZAK’ table, and ‘ZAK-ZAK’ bar table, are developed from the idea of the modern timber corner joint. The form of each piece is clean and austere. An all-purpose companion, ‘WOD’ functions as a lounge table, a stool, a bedside or occasional table, a seat or a flower stand: its uses are countless. Its space-saving dimensions: H – 45cm, W – 25cm, D – 25cm, make it perfect for narrow hallways, closets, bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, nurseries, bathrooms and offices, as well as for exhibitions, or as supplementary seating for cafes, lounge bars and office spaces. The low-waste CNC production, in plywood and solid wood, with various surface designs, meets the ecological requirements of the “single-material product”. No metals joints are used in the construction.
The rebirth of discarded and forgotten objects...La basurita is a range of interiors that emerged as part of a university degree project, stripping our furniture back to its pure form. The designs are centred around day-to-day needs, such as sleeping, sitting, and storage. Redundant everyday items, left on the street by modern city-dwellers out of lack of need or interest, provide the raw materials. The focus on day-to-day needs combines with the emergence, in the design process, of functional everyday objects, to bring the materials from the street back into the living space. Each item of furniture allows flexibility through its multiple applications, meaning that the design of la basurita continues right up until the first time you use it.
KATTER_furniture: Forms on their own terms.
Clear design demands a clear stance. Since 2002, KATTER_furniture’s range has proven that it’s not only the mainstream that can produce enduring design.
The products are defined by two fundamental qualities: a formal language stripped back to the essentials, and the best possible manufacturing standards.
The originality of the ideas has not passed others by: it appears that, despite its still tender years, the range has been ‘refined’ by numerous copy-cat designs.

Lighting manufacture Limpalux presents the hanging light Moonjelly. This novel concept was awarded the red dot awards: products design 2009 “red dot” quality seal for excellent design. Behind the design of the Moonjelly light lies a desire to create sculptural lighting with a structure that references organic form. It consists of paper slats that form a softly shining corpus by shrouding the light source, directing the light downwards. Depending on the strength and angle of external light sources and the movement of air in the room, the form and colouring of the lamp change, turning it into a living, gently oscillating sculpture.
llot llov senses the contradictions inherent in contemporary hysteria and takes a stand: The glass is not half-empty or half-full, but full – to the brim. The current upheaval is not a crisis, but an opportunity to reassess changing values.
In the hunt for new materials, llot llov looks to industry. Off-the-radar components and objects are appropriated and rescued from obscurity. Functionality retires to the shadows and the object stands out for the beauty of its form, as well as the elegance and character of the materials.

roomservice is the product of collaborations between the graphic designer Stephanie Pötter and the carpenter Serkan Yildlrim. roomservice brings together furniture design and graphic design/illustration, and what emerges is high-quality handmade furniture, predominantly tables (coffee, dining, children’s and conference tables), that features integrated glass plates, for instance as part of the tabletop. The undersides of these plates are printed with motifs – illustrations created from collage, pattern or decorative images. They not only serve as tabletops, but can also be used as pictures in their own right.

The designs are remarkable for their intelligent simplicity and restrained presence. Simple formal interventions lead to functional, stylish results.
Hot-Water Bottle
The hot water bottle is being increasingly replaced by an elecric
blanket. This is a pity, as a hot water bottle offers comfort and solace
to anyone who is not felling very well. The changed texture, closing
mechanism, insulation and form makes the hot water bottle fit better
with the natural curves of the human body. The Hot-Water Bottle is made
from felt, which spreads the warmth gradually. The inside of the felt is
impregnated with polyurethane, making the bottle stronger, while rubber
is used to ensure it is waterproof.
