The DESIGNERS FAIR gives young, independent designers the chance to showcase their work, while offering professional buyers, architects and interior designers, as well as members of the public the opportunity to survey the amazing ideas springing up outside of the mainstream – as well as being able to order or buy the products directly from the creative minds behind them.
PASSAGEN Interior Design Week Cologne was established 20 years ago – it presents innovative interior design ideas in specially-selected showrooms, galleries, institutions and other unusual and exciting locations across the city. For this period, the city of Cologne becomes a hotbed for exciting talent, as PASSAGEN, alongside the International Furnishing Show (IMM), creates a truly international design environment.
After the huge success of the last two years, with more than 30,000 visitors, HEIMATDESIGN and BÜRO SABINE VOGGENREITER decided to move the DESIGNERS FAIR to a new location: the design hot spot Cologne-Ehrenfeld.

Under the heading Wahlverwandtschaft (elective affinity), young Dutch designers present their concepts and projects.
The original scientific term Wahlverwandschaft is given to certain forms of reaction between chemical components, which, upon coming into contact with a newly-added element, relinquish an existing bond and form a new one with the new element.
Transferred to design, this refers to the unconventional additional of materials, an experimental combination of elements that initially appear to be uncombinable. It also implies the freely-chosen affinities of the designers, and the energies thereby created. The Dutch design scene seems noticeably intertwined and interlinked, but, as the exhibition shows, it is also full of individual creativity.
This year, as in previous years, DESIGNERS FAIR will also feature a number of special exhibitions. DESIGNWALK will showcase the glass and ceramic pieces of young international designers. The exhibition is supported by VELTINS.
